Wish to express my gratitude

girl-party-dress-flowers-hat

I’m sitting quietly at home on a pleasant morning and thoughts are of lovely friends. I commenced this blog twenty-one months ago and wish to express my gratitude. I’ve received so much joy from being part of the WordPress community. Oh! It hasn’t been without occasional frustration but still an adventure worth embarking upon.

Gender equality is a subject I’m passionate about and I will continue to research and write for years to come. Don’t think I’ll ever run out of ideas for new articles. Vef can seem like an absurd word however it has expanded my knowledge of language.

This week I’ve completed moving from one WordPress account to another. I know everything on page looks the same but underneath it’s all different. The only noticeable change is missing likes on posts as they don’t migrate when a blog is moved. During this process I had lots of help from happiness engineers. It’s complicated and I’d much rather write poetry than learn computer code. I’ll get busy on a poem tomorrow.

I’d like to thank followers who continue to encourage me to keep going with my book. I smile within at every comment on Vef’s posts. I’ve met some beautiful people during my online time here @ WP.com

So overall it’s an amazing creative writing experience.

Thanks for reading .. Haha!

Would I lie to you? Oh no!

pink-creamy-white-flower-green-leaves

Would I lie to you? Okay so let me explain! Vef might not be suitable to include in English language or any other language. However philosophy of this word opens my eyes to many incredible things. I often practice typing/reading vef in a sentence and I’m the first to admit that it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Well not always. Sometimes it’s easy to distinguish and makes good sense. If I juggle around the words I’m using and place them in correct order it works. Oh no, I most definitely wouldn’t lie to you baby. Ha!Ha!

This is a supremely beautiful word

gorgeous-hair-vef-pic-beauty

Dear Reader,
I’ll keep this brief and to the point as I’m not sure if anyone is online at this darkest time of night. Sitting in front of computer and perhaps I’m all alone by myself and wouldn’t that be so tragic. Oh! It looks eerie outside as thick fog envelopes trees and that’s a lot of e’s mixed in with several t’s. Blah! I just wrote that sentence because I’m bored. Ha!Ha!

Okay! On I go with typing as it makes me feel a lot better. I’ve always been too hasty when posting and often go back to do revisions. These waking hours I simply think and ponder on a gorgeous word. Can you guess? Vef is a supremely beautiful word originating from a celestial place (Venus) and that’s reason I’m writing a blog. I hope you enjoy a change of username, it’s certainly more attractive than before.

I’d like to thank everybody who came to visit and especially for the nice comments. I’m not doing much on the holidays. However it’s good to go walking in my local park and stroll down by the river where city sights are amazing. Promise I shall return soon better than ever. So now let the party begin.

Happy New Year 2015

Song lyrics to melt a girl’s heart

girl-asleep-flowers-cake

I’m giving a lot of thought to the issue of social justice and how it relates to gender equality. Girls are a long way behind boys in some countries. In fact many girls never go to school or earn a descent living. Can a gorgeous word ~ Vef ~ put them in front or not?

Perhaps I’m overly infatuated with the letter f .. Haha! I write and post articles on this blog to educate myself about how language can help solve the problem. I’m always reading books and finding unusual words.

So it’s wee small hours of the night and I’ve been hard at work trying to get everything organized before going to sleep. Listening to music is one of my greatest pleasures and I often dig out old classics. Wow! These song lyrics by The Cranberries are sure to melt a girl’s heart and they go like this.

Linger

If you, if you could return, don’t let it burn, don’t let it fade.

I’m sure I’m not being rude, but it’s just your attitude,
It’s tearing me apart, It’s ruining everything.

I swore, I swore I would be true, and honey, so did you.
So why were you holding her hand? Is that the way we stand?
Were you lying all the time? Was it just a game to you?

But I’m in so deep. You know I’m such a fool for you.
You got me wrapped around your finger, ah, ha, ha.
Do you have to let it linger? Do you have to, do you have to,
Do you have to let it linger?

Oh, I thought the world of you.
I thought nothing could go wrong,
But I was wrong. I was wrong.
If you, if you could get by, trying not to lie,
Things wouldn’t be so confused and I wouldn’t feel so used,
But you always really knew, I just wanna be with you.

But I’m in so deep. You know I’m such a fool for you.
You got me wrapped around your finger, ah, ha, ha.
Do you have to let it linger? Do you have to, do you have to,
Do you have to let it linger?

You know I’m such a fool for you.
You got me wrapped around your finger, ah, ha, ha.
Do you have to let it linger? Do you have to, do you have to,
Do you have to let it linger?

Song is from the Album – Everybody else is doing it so why can’t we (1992).

Believe in the power of your own wings

colored-bird-on-tree-branch

Recently I came across a proverb that I’m rather fond and here it is. To say I’m fond of this adage means that I don’t like it? Well it’s good but I’m not madly in love with it. Oh yes! I’m also fond of nature photography.

“A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking because her trust is, not on the strength of the branch, but on the power of her own wings. So the motto is always believe in yourself.”

I’ve worked very hard on my word project for almost ten years. It’s tough going and for all my efforts nothing much has happened apart from a lot of time and money invested. I guess that’s just the way it is with many ambitious endeavours. Personal feelings and emotions often slow me down. Blogging is one way of learning how to piece things together and gain knowledge of English language.

I’d write more in posts about gender equality however I’m not sure if anyone is reading. There’s plenty of good material about this subject on Vef Foundation home page.

Bye, Vef

Speak another word instead of woman

red-rose-lovely-petals

This word came to mind a long time ago and now it has become a part of my vocabulary. As a matter of fact I have a general aversion to using woman as a term. When I have thoughts (often) my brain knowingly converts woman to vef and when I read the same process occurs. Listening to radio or watching television are unpleasant experiences for me due to my dislike of the ugly word woman. Can’t take it anymore. Grrr. Oops! Did I offend anyone? Well I’ve got to tell you that back in 1980s I published a series of printed journals with woman in the title. I knew then what I know now and that woman just wasn’t quite right. It doesn’t sit correctly with my notion of proper language in the context of gender equality.

Woman derives from an old English word wifman and means man + wife. Actually woman implies ‘of man’ and it is a possessive noun that belongs only to man. Woman is obsolete and has passed its use by date. Vef belongs to herself and this present-day word replaces woman. Vaf (plural) belong to themselves and this word takes the place of women. I’ve borrowed a passage from an Agatha Christie novel and typed feme instead of woman. So please enjoy reading about feminism in a story the next time you pick up a good book.

Oh yes! I can speak another word and do so on a daily basis. Ha!Ha!

Gender equality using naughty words

gender-equality-vef-words

Gender equality can easily be achieved when we use non sexist language. Vef is not just a word for an adult feme person. It’s also good for men as it encourages the concept of fair play.

I’ve discovered and read this interesting quote on a feminist website. “No woman is beholden to her husband or any other man simply by virtue of being a woman.” Okay! Then I say in response: “What a load of shit.” Oops! I used naughty words. Of course, woman is bound to a man due to the word itself. Woman actually means (man + wife) and it’s a possessive noun. Vef is a liberal noun so reverse situation is true.

Questions & answers

How important is gender difference to us? What are the first words spoken immediately after the birth of a baby?

Gender is typically used with reference to social and cultural differences and not biological ones. We ask is it a boy or girl when a new baby is born. I accept girl and boy as being almost equal childhood terms, however I certainly do not regard the words man and woman as being equitable. Notice that woman usually follows man in a sentence, this is because they are not harmonious descriptions of both sexes. Woman gives the impression of belonging to man. Vef is a word that belongs to her own personality.

Gender equality is the absence of discrimination on the basis of a person’s sex in opportunities, the allocation of resources and benefits, or access to services. (Link)

Woman is obsolete and it should be replaced as it has many negative connotations. Vef is getting it right with language and is the ideal word to do this. Vef is a priority if equality is to be taken seriously.

Feme is the correct word to replace female. You girls don’t need the male part in this word.

She’s liberated from an unhappy marriage

vef-adorable-picture

She’s liberated from the constraints of an unhappy marriage to a word called man.

Vef can have a liberating effect on people. I know this from my personal experience and discussions with others. The words we use in our everyday lives can have a profound effect on our attitude and place in society. I’ve recently been giving a lot of thought to the word liberty and what it really means. Freedom is a right or privilege that should be available to everyone, but is it?

Liberty
1. Release from a situation which limits freedom of thought or behaviour.
2. To set free, as from oppression, confinement, or masculine control.
3. Free from social conventions or traditional ideas, especially in feminist theory, with regard to sexual roles.
4. The positive enjoyment of various social, political, or economic rights and privileges
5. Someone is able to act at will, pursuing an unrestricted lifestyle.

I’m not anti-man and it’s not my intention to change everything, just one word will do. What am I on about? Gender equality is when everybody has the same rights and opportunities. That’s my wish and giving up woman for a better word.

Thanks for reading.
